You really liked the New World eh? I've been wanting to see that. Do you know if it's on DVD yet?

I'm about to go rent Walk the Line to see before the awards tomorrow.

Then again I might just go on a Ewan McGregor spree - I didn't realize there were at least 5 movies of his I haven't seen yet!

Enjoy the Awards tomorrow Ed! :)

Thanks, I'll try! I don't really have a vested interest in any of the Oscar awards this year though, since none of my favorite films were nominated for much of anything. Should still be fun, I hope. I had Walk the Line down as an Honorable Mention, but I removed it at the last minute. Maybe I should put it back. It's certainly worth seeing.

Yes, The New World is by far my favorite English-language film of 2005. Nothing else really came close. AFAIK, it's not available on DVD yet. It wasn't widely released until late-January. I expect it will be a couple of months yet before it's released on DVD. I can't wait though! The DVD will have an even longer version of the movie than they released in theaters from what I've heard. Terence Malick only makes like one movie per decade, but all of his films are excellent. I think this is actually my favorite film of his, certainly on par with his Days of Heaven which is widely considered a classic. I was quite disappointed when it didn't get nominated for Best Picture. His movies are paced very deliberately, almost laconic at times, but nearly shot is gorgeous with an almost ethereal beauty.

Later,
Ed
