Best Movies of the First Half of 2006
The movies that get released in the first half of the year are often forgotten by the time year-end lists are made, so I thought I'd post what I consider to be the best movies of the first half of 2006:

  1. United 93
  2. A Prairie Home Companion
  3. Inside Man
  4. The Proposition
  5. Superman Returns
  6. Running Scared
  7. Three Times (Zui hao de shi guang)
  8. Don't Come Knocking
  9. The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada
  10. Caché (Hidden)
  11. Hard Candy

Honorable mentions (in no particular order): Cars, V for Vendetta, Thank You for Smoking, Art School Confidential, Friends with Money, Akeelah and the Bee

Oddly enough, I've seen a sum total of Zero of those movies.

I haven't been seeing movies as much.

You haven't really missed much, well, except for Superman Returns. That's worth seeing on the big screen. That's if you're a Superman fan, of course. As for the rest, most of them should be hitting DVD soon, if they haven't already. My taste in movies can be somewhat esoteric.

I've seen one movie on your list, Superman Returns. And I haven't even heard of half of them you have listed! Must be foreign or something. :)

Hey Ed, It's Maggie - just wanted to say a quick hello -the only internet here is a public computer in the hotel lobby - thus the anonymous. Say hello to everyone at work for me, and I'll see you on Thursday. I'm almost afraid to ask, but have the DragonCon car rental plans progressed any? We're hoping for internet in Zermatt, but no guarantees. I'll check in when I can! Hope things are well in Maryland!

Hey Maggie! It's good to hear from you! Hope you are having lots of fun! As far as I know, no one has reserved a rental van for DragonCon yet. There hasn't been any subsequent discussion since the conversation you participated in before your trip. I think part of the problem is that Susan isn't even sure if she's going to DragonCon...
